Have you heard the Good News?

Let us share with you the most important Good News! There is an eternal hope, but it can only be found through Jesus Christ. Let’s start at the beginning.

God created this world and everything in it.  He created humanity in His image, as male and female.  He desired to have a close relationship with us.  But tragedy struck when Adam and Eve were tempted by Satan and rebelled against God.  This is when sin entered our world.  They chose to ignore what God had told them and this led them to being separated from God.

Romans 3:23 says “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”.  No matter how hard you try, or how good a life you try to live, we all fall short of living up to God’s perfect standard of righteousness.  Because of the fall of Adam and Eve, we are all born into sin and this is where you must realize…

#1 You are a sinner.  As Romans tells us, we all are sinners!

And because we are sinners, there is a consequence for that sin.  Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”  How do we get ourselves out of this mess of sin?  The answer is we can’t!  But there is one that can.  After Adam and Eve rebelled, God promised that He would send someone who would crush the head of the serpent (Satan) and who would be crushed for us.  God made a way for us to have a second chance.

This is where you must recognize…

#2 You need a Savior.  This Savior is Jesus Christ.

God loved us so much and was willing to give us a second chance.  Instead of us having to die, Jesus suffered death for us. Did we deserve a second chance?  No, but Romans 5:8 tells us, “God demonstrated His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

God sent His Son, Jesus, to live the perfect life that we could never live, and He died the death that we deserved.  He paid for our sins, on the cross.  Jesus rose from the grave three days later, destroying the power of sin and death!

And this is the Good News!  John 3:16-18 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.  For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.  He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”

What next?  Where do you go from here?

Ask yourself these questions:

  1. Have you realized you are a sinner in need of a Savior?
  2. Do you believe Jesus died on the cross for your sins and was raised three days later?

If you answered yes, then it is time you…

#3 Confess and repent of your sins.  Make the decision to stop running from God and instead be obedient to Him.

By confessing and repenting, you are in agreeance with God that you need His grace and forgiveness.  Acts 3:19 says, “Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out”.

Romans 10:9-10 says, “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

Receive Jesus Christ into your life.  Becoming a Christian is not just a title you obtain by going to church or living a good life.  It means that you have allowed Jesus Christ to be your personal Savior and asked Him into your life and to be ruler over it.  Romans 10:13 says, “For whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”

Are you ready to let go of your sin, accept Jesus as your personal Savior and have a relationship with Him?

If so, pray this prayer:

Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner.  I believe you died for my sins and you rose from the dead.  I repent of my sins and ask that you forgive me.  I commit my life to you and confess that you are my Lord and Savior.  Thank you for saving me!  Amen.
